Elshad Iskandarov reelected chairman of the OIC Forum
Closing ceremony of the 2nd General Assembly of the Youth Forum of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) took place in Istanbul on October 13. The delegates, representing 60 youth organizations from 45 countries of the OIC unanimously re-elected Elshad Iskenderov as chairman of the Forum. His deputies were elected representatives of Turkey, Jordan, Algeria and Iran. At the same time, new nine members of the Board were elected.
The OIC Secretary General, Iyad Al-Madani, said that the Istanbul Youth Declaration entitled "10 Years - 10 targets" will be adopted as a policy document on youth policy at the regular OIC Council of Foreign Ministers.
Elshad Iskandarov, speaking to the delegates, said that in the coming 5 years, the priorities of the organization will be the fight against Islamophobia, against extremist tendencies and takfirizm, and intellectual development in member countries.
* OIC Youth Forum was established in 2004 in the city of Baku with the participation of youth organizations from 45 countries of the OIC, which in 2005 was granted the status of an international organization under OIC.
Since 2009, the main headquarters is in Istanbul, and since 2010, the Regional Center of the Forum is located in Baku and has a diplomatic status. -02D-
