Former Deputy Head of MNS Antiterrorist Center Hangs Himself in Prison
On the fact of the suicide of the former deputy head of the Antiterrorist Center of MNS Ilgar Aliyev Baku Prosecutor's Office launched a criminal case under article 125 (bringing to suicide) of the Criminal Code. This is stated in the official report of the Prison Service.
The suicide was committed about 16:00 on December 20 in Baku Detention Center No. 1, when Aliyev left the room for a telephone conversation with his family. Aliyev hanged on the sheet, made of rope and tied it to the bars of the window.
Attempts to save Aliyev produced no results.
Recall that 21 MNS officers are charged with serious criminal offenses and 19 of them were arrested for extortion, kidnapping, theft and the use of official powers and money for the MNS commission of those crimes.

The former deputy head of the Antiterrorist Center of MNS Colonel Ilgar Aliyev committed suicide by hanging himself in Baku detention center No. 1 of the Penitentiary Service on 20 December. This happened in the late afternoon.
Information about the suicide was confirmed by his lawyer Rashad Mirmehdizadeh for Turan. He said that he was summoned to attend the investigative activities in connection with the suicide.
The details of the accident are still unknown.
Aliyev was a defendant in the criminal case against members of the National Security Ministry launched after the release of Eldar Mahmudov, as head of this department. The case involved 21 people, including 19 detained with Aliyev. They are accused of abuse of power and other criminal offenses.
On December 14, President Ilham Aliyev abolished the Ministry of National Security and ordered to create the State Security Service and the Foreign Intelligence Service on its basis.
Ilgar Aliyev was mentioned in the context of pressure on journalists.
Thus, an employee of the newspaper Bizim Yol Parviz Hashimli stated at the court that Ilgar Aliyev exerted pressure on him with a view to negotiate a number of senior officials.
The journalist Tural Mustafayev said that Ilgar Aliyev pressured him to make him not refuse of slandering the investigative journalist Khadija Ismayilova. -03B06--

During the proceedings, the court reviewed a response from the 28th Police Station of the Yasamal District in Baku. At the previous hearing, the defense had requested that the court obtain footage from the surveillance cameras at this police station, where Guliyev was taken on December 4 of last year. However, the police response stated that the video footage had not been preserved.
