Human rights activist Vidadi Iskandarov is arrested for 10 days
Today the Yasamal District Court arrested a former "prisoner of conscience", Vidadi Iskenderli, for 10 days on charges of not subordinate to the police.
According to his lawyer Anar, Gasymly, Iskenderli is accused of meddling in the affairs of the post-patrol police, anti-government slogans, and calling for the participation of citizens in public rallies.
Iskenderli declared his innocence and intends to appeal.
Iskenderli Oktay, the defender’s brother, said that the reason for arrest became a remark to police officers for selectively penalizing citizens who violate the street crossing rules.
"The police fined two female students, who had no money to pay the fine. At the same time, the police "did not notice" many other offenders," said Oktay Iskenderli.—16B06-
