Justice Minister received head of PACE
Justice Minister Fikret Mammadov received on September 22 the PACE President Anne Brasseur, who is on visit to Baku.
As the press service of the Ministry of Justice said, during the meeting they discussed issues of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Council of Europe in a variety of areas, including legal sphere.
The Minister spoke about the reforms that serve the rule of law, human rights and democracy. "All this is a priority of Azerbaijan, headed the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe," said the Minister.
Mammadov also informed about the improvement of the judicial system with the participation of the Council of Europe, the development of the prison system, improvement of prison conditions, and the construction of modern penal places.
PACE President, in turn, was interested in the news in the judicial system, civil society development, improvement of legislation.
She thanked him for the conditions created for her visit to prisons.
The sides exchanged views on the implementation of the Plan of joint activities for the period 2014-16 years, as well as new projects, the report said. -16D04-
