Liberation of Fizuli provides strategic advantage to the Azerbaijani army - I. Aliyev
Baku / 17.10.20 / Turan: The operation to free Fizuli led to the failure of the enemy's defense and provided the Azerbaijani army with a strategic advantage, said the President Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in a televised address to the people.
“There were heavy battles for the liberation of Fizuli. Time will pass and books about the Fizuli operation will be written. The operation was carried out with great professionalism and heroism. For 30 years, the enemy had strengthened the defensive positions around Fuzuli so much that some believed it was impossible to take it. Even the most famous military experts believed it would take months of fighting to liberate Fizuli. They even questioned whether the required military operation would be successful. However, the valiant Azerbaijani army fulfilled its sacred mission with honor. In a short time, the vast majority of villages in Fizuli region, as well as the city itself, has been liberated from the occupiers,” Aliyev said.
According to him, the invaders barbarously destroyed the city; not a single solid building remained in it.
“All our houses, religious monuments have been demolished and plundered. Everything was carried away from there, up to the roofs of houses, windows and so on. It seems that the city was captured by a wild tribe. The remains of the city of Fizuli are an indicator of Armenian fascism. I am fully confident that the valiant Azerbaijani army will continue to expel the occupiers from our lands,” Aliyev said.
The Fizuli operation is a symbol. “This operation ensures the return of tens of thousands of people to their lands. From a strategic point of view, the failure of the enemy's defense in this direction gives us a strategic advantage. The direction from which we were able to enter Fuzuli is no longer a secret. Before that, the Jabrayil region and the city were liberated, and then Hadrut. Then the villages of Dzhabrail, Khojavend and Dzhabrail regions were liberated. Only after that, we liberated the city of Fizuli. The enemy left his weapon at the last moment and fled. I can declare with full responsibility that the Fuzuli operation will be included in military books,” Aliyev said.-0-
