Moscow is concerned about the processes in Armenia - Lavrov
Moscow / 03.09.18 / Turan: The Kremlin continues to show its irritation with the actions of the new government of Armenia. Once again, these sentiments were expressed on Monday by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to students at the Moscow Institute of International Relations. Asked what is Russia's attitude to the persecution of the former leaders of Armenia, he replied:
"We did not make any movements, no statements that could at least somehow, even with a stretch, be interpreted as interference in internal affairs. I cannot say that all the other external players did the same thing."
He did not specify what "external players" he was talking about and added: Russia "is worried that the situation in Armenia continues to boil" and "the events of a decade ago" are being investigated, while recognizing that this is an internal matter of Armenia.
Lavrov expressed hope that Armenia will concentrate on "creative tasks" and will follow its obligations to the Collective Security Treaty Organization. He also said that President Vladimir Putin will meet with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in the near future. -02D-
