The case of Rasul Jafarov and Intigam Aliyevis sent to court
Criminal cases against human rights defenders Rasul Jafarov and Intigam Aliyev were transferred to the Baku Serious Crimes Court. In the near future the appointment of judges who will consider the case, is expected, according to lawyers. Rasul Jafarov was arrested on 2 August, and Intigam Aliyev - August 8, 2014.They both were initially accused of illegal business, tax evasion, abuse.
According to the results of the preliminary investigation, they are charged with official forgery and embezzlement on a large scale. Jafarov and Aliyev rejected the allegations, and find them politically motivated.
International human rights organization Amnesty International has recognized them as “prisoners of conscience.”- 06D-
