US welcomes release of İntigam Aliyev
US State Department welcomed release of a famous Azeri lawyer Intigam Aliyev.
A Press Statement John Kirby, Assistant Secretary and Department Spokesperson, on March 28, reads:
“The United States welcomes today’s decision by the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan to conditionally release human rights lawyer Intigam Aliyev.
This follows the March 17 release of more than a dozen other individuals. We urge the government to release other individuals who have been incarcerated for exercising their fundamental freedoms and to end restrictions on the movement of those released, and we look forward to working with the Azerbaijani government on additional positive steps”. -25D-
