Dialogue must be real, not imitation
The PFPA Deputy Chairman for International Affairs, Razi Nurullayev, doubts the possibility of real dialogue between the government and the opposition. In an interview with Turan, he said he did not believe in the idea of the Assistant Secretary of State, Victoria Nulland, on the agreement for the establishment of the Azerbaijani-American structure for democracy issues.
There may be attempts to simulate dialogue. Azerbaijani authorities have recently become aggressive in the pursuit of opposition politicians and activists. Under the guise of "dialogue" they are trying to lure of the public on their side, but leading opposition forces refused to participate in this game, Nurullayev believes.
Concerning the offer of Nuland, Nurullayev reminded that a similar working group was established at the initiative of the Council of Europe Secretary General Jagland. However, this idea failed because the authorities simulated a desire to solve the problem of political prisoners. "So, unless the political prisoners are released, the reactionary amendments to the legislation are abolished, and the repression against activistssto, the appearance of any commission will be formal.
It is necessary to restore the activity of the American NGOs - İREX, NDİ, Pease Sorps, "Radio Liberty", said Nurullaev.-0306D-
