ADR Movement Holds Hearings on Karabakh
Baku / 24.02.19 / Turan: Public hearings in a wide format, organized by the Democracy and Prosperity Movement of Azerbaijan (ADR), were held on the theme "Karabakh: socio-political and military situation and ways of the settlement" on February 23.
The event was attended by about 100 security experts, conflict researchers, political and public figures, representatives of civil society and the media.
The following issues were discussed at the hearings that lasted about three hours: non-disclosing details of the statement on the preparation of the peoples of Azerbaijan and Armenia for peace after the Paris meeting on January 16, 2019 of the Minsk Group Co-Chairs, Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office and Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, the dangerous points behind this statement, the latest statements of the Russian Foreign Minister on the Karabakh problem, as well as possible ways to solve this problem.
Despite the various opinions expressed in numerous speeches, the overall position of the participants in the Hearing was as follows:
1. The relevant government structures of Azerbaijan should explain to the people the details of the principle "prepare the nations for peace";
2. A plan should be submitted to the discussion of the people, the implementation of which is planned under the conditional name "Peace Process";
3. The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict can only be resolved within the framework of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country;
4. Any "peace agreement" bearing the character of surrender will be viewed as a betrayal of the people of Azerbaijan, oblivion of the blood, shed by more than 20,000 martyrs, the honor of compatriots stained in the captivity of the enemy, looted and devastated lands;
5. There can be no talk of signing any peace agreement, without taking into account the will of the people, contrary to constitutional rights, since this would mean the fall of power;
6. The main constitutional duty of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan as Commander-in-Chief for the implementation of the main task "ensuring the territorial integrity of the country" is not to prepare the people for an agreement of a capitulatory nature, but to prepare the people for a war of liberation by any means, including anti-terrorist operations;
7. In the solution of the Karabakh problem there should not be a division into power and opposition, and one and all should demonstrate unity in the name of liberating the territories from occupation. -0-
