Programs confirmed for diabetes and tuberculosis

The Cabinet approved two state programs for 2016-2020. One relates to diabetes, the second program of measures to combat tuberculosis in the period of 2016-2020 years.  The number of diabetic patients in the world is increasing annually by 15-20%. In Azerbaijan, from year to year  the rise of this disease is incraesing by 15%. According to the results of  nine months of 2015, the country registered 204,964 diabetics. According to Turan, deputy director of the Republican Endocrinology Center Babak Salek, 1100 diabetic patients  are  children up to 18 years. However, the doctor said that this figure does not reflect the real picture of children with diabetes. In regions of the country parents are trying to conceal that their daughters are diabetic patients.

Over the past 10 years the number of diabetics has increased by three-fold. For this reason,  the mortality rate has decreased by two times.   First type diabetic patients comprise  28921 cheloek, second type - 176 043 people.

Under this program, the Ministry of Health in the period 2016-2020 suggests provising  medical facilities  with equipment and reagents, as well as increase the level of specialized medical care to patients with diabetes mellitus. According to the program, it is planned to organize a special control of diabetics children and young people in all educational institutions. Monitoring will be carried out by health workers and teachers, regardless of the kind and type of diabetes.

In contrast to the number of diabetic patients the number of patients with tuberculosis has not incrased. According to Sevinj Tagiyeva, the  head of the Institute of Lung Diseases, the results of 2014 the number of tuberculosis patients per 100 thousand persons is 43.5%. Among tuberkulosis  patients mortality rate was 3.9% for every one hundred thousand people. According to Sevinj Tagiyeva, in comparison with previous years the number of deaths has decreased.  The number of the severe forms of infected with tuberkulosis decreased, and stability is observed  in the infecting," Tagiyev said.

"Tuberkulosis is observed mostly among the age group from 16 to 65 years, and to a greater extent among men. High rates are observed in the age group 18-24 years. This is due to largely  medical examination of conscripts and to identify the disease at an early stage. Infection with tuberculosis at the age of 0-14 years is 15.7% for every one hundred thousand people.

Beings asked in what region of the country the highest number of  disease with tuberkulosis was registered, Sevinj Tagiyeva pointed to the southern region. As a reason she pointed to weak preventive measures  in the regions.-0-
