Baku/22.06.21/Turan: On July 18, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted Resolution No. 175 "On the Approval of the Orthoepical Norms of the Azerbaijani Language".

According to the Law "On the State Language in the Republic of Azerbaijan", the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan is a body to approve the orthoepical norms of the Azerbaijani language.

The Cabinet of Ministers instructed the National Academy of Sciences to develop a draft "Orthoepical Norms of the Azerbaijani Language".

Set up with the participation of specialists from the Nasimi Institute of Linguistics of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, a working group developed a draft "Orthoepical norms of the Azerbaijani language" and submitted it to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan in coordination with relevant state bodies.

Note that orthoepy is a system of norms of correct pronunciation. These norms were developed in order to apply the rules of correct pronunciation of certain words and suffixes used in the modern Azerbaijani literary language, as well as abbreviations.

It should be added that the rules of orthoepy are based on the existing pronunciation of words and suffixes in the modern Azerbaijani literary language. The rules of pronunciation of the modern Azerbaijani literary language were developed in accordance with works of outstanding linguists in the field, such as Abdulazal Demirchizade, Mammadaga Shiraliyev, Agamusa Akhundov, Aziz Efendizade.

In addition, Academician Nizami Jafarov, member of the State Language Commission, Professor Buludhan Khalilov, Nasir Ahmadli and other experts gave positive comments and comments on the initial version of the draft norms of orthoepy.

In general, the norms of orthoepy were submitted to the Ministry of Education, the Terminology Commission, the Press Council and the Ministry of Justice for the preparation of a draft opinion, and positive feedback was received with some comments.—0—
