Transit of TRACECA Cargo Decreased by 15.6%
Over three quarters of 2014 the volume of freight traffic on the Silk Road in the Azerbaijan sector totaled 9,261,500 tons, which is 15.6% less than in the comparable period of 2013, they told Turan in the State Statistical Committee .
According to the SSC, a serious decline on the TRACECA corridor was recorded by railways: YTD the railroad has transported 3.237 million tons of transit cargo, which is 33.9% less than in January-September last year. Transportation by water transport (over 6 million tons) decreased by only 0.9%.
For the first nine months receipts of cargo carriers by the Azerbaijan section of the TRACECA transport corridor amounted to 92.0466 million manat, which is 14.3% less than last year.
Increase in the freight traffic through the territory of Azerbaijan is expected with the commissioning of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway and the new Baku International Sea Port. --08D--

Natural gas supplies from Azerbaijan to Bulgaria have been temporarily suspended due to technical reasons from January 6, 2025, Turan reports. Bulgarian «Bulgargaz» Energy Company has announced the suspension, noting that supplies are expected to resume on January 11, 2025.
