Erdogan's party lost the elections in Ankara and Istanbul
Baku/01.04.19/Turan: Erdogan's supporters lost in the municipal elections in major cities of Turkey. Contrary to the statements of Erdogan that the ruling Justice and Development Party won "by a wide margin", for the first time since the beginning of the 2000s, it is losing control over the capital of the country - Ankara and the largest city of the country - Istanbul.
The counting of votes in Istanbul continues, however, according to preliminary data, the candidate of the Republican People"s Party, Ekrem Imamoglu, is ahead of former Prime Minister Binali Yildirim by 28 thousand votes.

Other commentators, however, point out that on the scale of the whole country, the Justice and Development Party still received a majority of votes, about 45%, and controls most of the municipalities.
In a number of Kurdish areas in the south-east of Turkey, the pro-Kurdish People"s Democratic Party won, regaining the positions lost two years ago. -02D-
