Hearing on State of Human Rights in UN Office in Geneva
Today the UN Office in Geneva will hold hearings on the state of human rights in Azerbaijan, organized by a number of international human rights organizations.
Participants of the event will focus on the analysis of the situation in Azerbaijan after the presidential elections of 2013. It was after the beginning of the third term of Ilham Aliyev that the wave of repression against civil society in Azerbaijan reached its peak, according to the press release of the event.
“We call upon the Human Rights Council to take concrete steps to address the deteriorating situation in Azerbaijan. We call upon Azerbaijan to put an end to the unprecedented repression against civil society and to immediately and unconditionally release and rehabilitate the civil and political rights of all political prisoners.

The Prosecutor's Office is investigating the deaths of two people during the recent floods in Baku, Baku Mayor Eldar Azizov said commenting on the consequences of the flooding of tunnels in the capital during the heavy rains on October 22 to journalists.
