Ilham Aliyev: Russian mediation in the Karabakh issue is productive
The ceasefire on the contact line in the Nagorno-Karabakh is unstable, fragile, existing status-quo is unacceptable, said on Tuesday the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at the joint press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, according to RIA Novosti. "On the demarcation line are constant violations, the ceasefire regime is unstable and fragile. Today's status quo is unacceptable, since April Armenia has continued armed provocations against us," said Aliyev.
At the same time Aliyev praised Russia's mediation. "We have a very constructive, very friendly relations with Russia ... We see Russia as a strategic partner, Russia's behavior fully corresponds to this,"- said the President of Azerbaijan. He pointed out that Russia's role as co-chair of the Minsk Group on the Nagorno Karabakh settlement is "very positive".
Today in Berlin, speaking at the Azerbaijani-German economic forum, Aliyev also spoke about Karabakh, recalling that the UN Security Council adopted four resolutions, which demand "the withdrawal of all occupation forces from the territory of Azerbaijan", but Armenia does not comply with these resolutions. "Azerbaijan is faced with a policy of double standards, since in some cases, resolutions are carried out within a few days, while in the case of Azerbaijan, they are not followed for more than 20 years. In spite of this, no sanctions are introduced against the Armenian authorities," according to the press-service of Aliyev.-06D--
