Members of the National Council and the Musavat Party Visit the Monument of Mamedemin Rasulzade
Baku/28.05.20/Turan: On May 28, members of the National Council of Democratic Forces visited the village of Novkhany, where a monument to the founder of the Azerbaijan People’s Republic (1918-1920) Mamedemin Rasulzade was erected.
The police allowed only a small group to the monument, including the leader of the Popular Front Party, Ali Karimli.
Employees of the newspaper Azadlig conducted a live report from the action via Facebook.
In his speech to the people, Karimli said that the founders of the first republic worked in extremely difficult and difficult conditions and were able to establish an independent state.
“We will do everything so that the values of the first republic return and triumph,” he said.
Today, activists of another opposition party – Musavat also visited the monument. The police also allowed several people to the monument, explaining this with quarantine measures.
Musavat leader Arif Hajlili, noting the importance of Republic Day, accused the authorities of jealousy. That is why such an important day is not actually celebrated in the country, he said.
