Ahsan Nuruzade is placed in a punishment cell
Baku / 21.05.19 / Turan: The activist of the Muslim Unity Movement, Ahsan Nuruzade, is imprisoned in a punishment cell of jail N 6, where he is serving a prison sentence, said his mother Zeyneb Huseynova.
According to her, the activist was to call home on Saturday, May 18, but he did notLater from other prisoners they learned that Nuruzade together with another prisoner Muhammedali were imprisoned in a punishment cell.
The mother is concerned that keeping her son in a punishment cell while he holds the fast will harm his health. She also believes her son was tortured.
The Prison Service confirmed the statement of the activist in the punishment cell, explaining that he violated the discipline. Allegations of torture in the Prison Service have denied.
Nuruzade was the coordinator for the protection of the rights of believers arrested in connection with the Nardaran events in 2015. In 2017, he was twice arrested in an administrative manner.
Finally, in October 2017, he was charged with drug trafficking and later sentenced to 7 years in prison. Human rights organizations recognized him as a political prisoner. -16D06--
