Blogger Mehman Huseynov was arrested in the Baku airport on departure to Tbilisi on November 10 in the morning. This was reported by the journalist Khadija Ismailova.
In the summer of 2012 a criminal case was filed against Huseynov and he was banned from leaving the country. Huseynov is accused of hooliganism against a police officer.
However, in connection with the expiration of the criminal investigation Huseynov asked the prosecutor to lift the ban on foreign travel.
The prosecutors recommended contacting the police. However, from the police investigator Huseynov received no reply.
To actually check whether the ban was lifted Huseynov was going to use the invitation and leave for an OSCE conference in Tbilisi on November 10.
However, border guards detained him under the pretext of lack of "passport system".
In connection with the "suspected counterfeit passport" Huseynov was given to the police of the airport. Later, he told friends that he was being taken to the police of the Sabail district.

The Police Department for Air Transport of MIA told Turan that Huseynov was arrested in connection with the fact that he was declared wanted by the Sabail district police.
Huseynov is also an employee of the Institute of Reporters Freedom and Safety (IRFS), against which prosecutors opened a criminal case in early August, seizing equipment and documents of the NGO and sealing the office.
The fate of Huseynov’s brother, Director of IRFS, remains unknown.
