Nemat Panahly Arrested for 30 Days
Baku / 13.10.18 / Turan: On October 12, the Nasimi court arrested the leader of the National Statehood party Nemat Panahly for 30 days. Turan was told by his wife, Ghajar Panahly.
According to her, N. Panahly was found guilty under Article 535.1 (not submitting to the police) of the Code of Administrative Offenses.
N. Panahly left the house on Friday afternoon, and there was no information about him until the evening.
"When he did not return in the evening, I called 102 at the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Then they called me from the Nasimi police and said that Nemat was arrested for 30 days," said G. Panahly.
She believes that N. Panahly was detained in the evening when he was returning home, since the car was in the yard.
The authorities have not yet commented on the information about the arrest of N.Panahly.
N. Panahly gained fame as the leader of multi-day rallies on Azadlig Square (then called Lenin) in Baku in November 1988.
In 1993, N. Panahly entered the Heydar Aliyev team. However, on the eve of 1995, he left this team, accusing the authorities of preparing election fraud.
In 2011, N. Panahly was sentenced to 7 years in prison on charges of hooliganism. However, in March 2016 he was pardoned. -06D--
