The website Prezident.az published a statement by Ilham Aliyev on cotton growing in Sabirabad. The Head of State said that in connection with the fall in oil prices, there is an adequate increase in prices and decline in revenue.
In this regard, it is necessary to develop exports, such as cotton. The Head of State called 2016 the first year of the recovery of cotton growing. In 2015, 35,000 tons of cotton was harvested on 18,000 hectares. He called it destruction of the cotton industry. According to him, this year cotton has been sown on 51,000 ha. From this area it is planned to gather at least 100,000 tons of cotton.
The state has even bigger plans in this area in 2017. About 70,000 people will work in the cotton fields.
The site of the newspaper Azadlig, Azadliq.info, writes about the arrests before the opposition rallies in the coming days. The author argues that these arrests prove the illegitimacy of the upcoming referendum.
Yeni Musavat brings expert opinions in connection with Ilham Aliyev’s statement on the plan to return unused lands to crop rotation. According to him, those who take a land plot for rent must necessarily use it. This year, he said a major revision will be carried out. The Head of State also noted that some of the land was simply captured and not used. Leases of these lands should be eliminated and the process has started.
Experts believe that soon in the hands of the oligarchs there will be an even greater amount of land taken from the common people. Confiscation of land is a direct violation of property rights. Farmers themselves need to resolve such issues.
At the same time, MP Vahid Ahmadov considers that all amendments to the Constitution have no connection with the land plots.
