Increasing the possibility of exporting greenhouse complexes, the means to combat the monopoly in the markets of Azerbaijan, and shortcomings in the field of tourism are the leading topics of today's press.
The newspaper Azerbaijan writes that with the use of greenhouse complexes, export opportunities are growing. In recent years, only 32 modern greenhouse complexes have been created in the settlements of Baku, to which the state itself allocated funds.
For this purpose, the National Fund for Entrepreneurship Support allocated concessional loans for AZN 95.8 million. This sphere brought revenues from the sale of tomatoes amounting to 94 million US dollars in 2016 and USD 151 million in 2017.
Currently, the existing greenhouses and those under construction cover about 3 thousand hectares in Azerbaijan.
The Yeni Musavat newspaper is discussing whether the newly created State Consumer Market Control and Antimonopoly Agency will be able to "get over" with the monopolies.
Experts note that this agency should ensure that the market does not form a monopoly, and also protect the rights of consumers. The expert Natig Jafarli believes there was no need to create such a body. The expert gives his calculations about the above and he also wonders what control will be established over prices in the market. It would be better if the state created conditions for the development of healthy competition and supported small and medium-sized businesses, the expert believes.
The newspaper Novoye Vremya writes about the availability of domestic tourism and the absence of statistics on this. Statistics show that the number of Azerbaijani citizens traveling abroad has been decreasing in recent years, while the number of tourists coming to our country is increasing. And if the statistics on the latest indicator, that is, inbound tourism, are abundant, that is how many tourists came from which country, how much money they spent, etc., then it's rather difficult to talk about domestic tourism, since there are no statistics on this.

The closure of Azerbaijan's land borders was discussed during the parliamentary session on November 25. While the government’s decision cites the coronavirus pandemic as the main reason—despite the World Health Organization declaring its end last year—Zahid Oruj, Chair of the Human Rights Committee in the Milli Majlis, pointed to other factors. He stated, "Opening the borders could result in an influx of hundreds of thousands of non-Azerbaijani refugees due to the Russia-Ukraine war. Additionally, in Iran, many are prepared to cross into Azerbaijan to safeguard their lives and assets amid military strikes. Such waves of refugees could lead to humanitarian, social, and cultural clashes that may threaten political stability."
