Prosecutor asked to convict ex-colonel of MNS for 5 years of imprisonment
Baku / 28.07.17 / Turan: At a hearing at the Baku Military Court in the case of the former officers of the Ministry of National Security prosecutor asked to sentence to five years in prison the former colonel, former chief of the Office of Counterintelligence MNS Miraziz Askerov, with disqualification to 2 years to assume leadership positions after serving term. The public prosecutor added that to make a decision about this property Askerov, which seized it provides the court.
Askerov accused of extortion by threats from businessman Vidadi Azizov 350000 manats.
Askarov was arrested after the criminal community has been exposed in the ranks of the National Security Ministry in October 2015. He is accused of crimes such as demanding bribes through threats, abuse of official authority.
However, Colonel MNS told the court he did not accept the charges because it believes that the victim Vidadi Azizov himself should be arrested. According to the defendant, Azizov is engaged in money laundering related to Iran and other countries, and he is not a businessman. In addition, he spies in favor of other states.
