The Committee to Protect Civil Society (CPCS) demands the release of Khadija Ismailova
The Committee to Protect Civil Society (CPCS) at a regular meeting on Wednesday condemned the verdict against the journalist Khadija Ismailova depriving her of freedom for 7.5 years. The meeting participants recognized the verdict a logical continuation of a campaign of harassment and pressure on the journalist and demanded her release. The question on the investigation of the murder of journalist Rasim Aliyev was also discussed. The session Noted with appreciation The involvement of the lawyer Asabali Mustafayev in protecting the rights of the Aliyev was also welcomed.
The meeting also recognized the need to establish contact with the families of political prisoners, to explore their needs, material and moral state, and to help.
The CPCS anxiously accepted the information about the pressure on some of the political prisoners in jails. Therefore the CPCS intends to obtain from the prison service meeting with these political services.-06D-
