Today at 14:45 Rufat Safarov, fFormer investigator of Zardab regional prosecutor's office was again summoned to the Office for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General's Office. Safarov is the son of Rufat Safarov, a former member of parliament and one of the founders of the ruling party "Yeni Azerbaijan", who last year publicly criticized the head of Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev. In December, Safarov criticized in the press the authorities for violations of the law and the poor activity of law enforcement agencies. After that Safarov told about the resignation of the prosecutor's offices. In turn, prosecutors told about the dismissal of Safarov "for improper conduct." On January 15 Safarov was arrested on charges of taking bribes. However, on January 22, he was released under house arrest.
Safarov believes that his challenge to the prosecutor may be because of an interview he gave to the opposition newspaper "Azadlig".
According to Safarov, within 20 days after release from custody no investigation was conducted against him. Safarov doers not exclude that he may be re-arrested. Safarov's lawyer Behruz Bayramov, told Turan said he had no information about the reasons for the summon of his client to the prosecution. However, he thinks that this is a normal process in the framework of the investigation.
The lawyer pointed out that there are no grounds for the re-arrest of Safarov, because he did not hide from the investigation. -06D-
