International Conference on Management of Real Estate Started in Baku
A two-day international conference "The role of industry in the management of real estate registries in the Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE)" started in Baku.
The event has been organized by the State Property Committee of Azerbaijan and the UN. It is attended by representatives of 56 countries, including the United States, Russia, Britain, and Germany. The read message by Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) Christian Fritz Bach says about the role of land management as a key factor in reducing poverty and ensuring food security in the world, addressing climate change and minimizing the risk of natural disasters. In the ECE region, conflicts often arise between those who want to cultivate the land, and those who want to build on it.
"This region is one of the most densely populated in the world, with three-quarters of the population living in cities, the expansion of which is a concern as it impacts on land resources. That is, it should develop mechanisms and tools to achieve the optimum combination of features of land use based on available space, cost and benefit. These issues are global in nature, as the population grows, and there is a powerful process of urbanization, changing the dynamics of consumption and climate, which puts additional pressure and impact on land resources. The emphasis should be placed on social and vulnerable populations," the document says. --17D-
