Renowned Companies in Black List of Ministry of Taxes
The Ministry of Taxes has updated the list of taxpayers who have debts to pay taxes. They included several big-name companies, including those belonging to the families of the oligarchs.
Among them there is Ltd Royal Estate (a real estate management company) which is affiliated with Garant Holding owned by the family of the Minister of Transport Ziya Mammadov. The transport company Transgate and the football club Baku do not pay taxes either. They belong to the family of Hafiz Mammadov, former companion of Ziya Mammadov. The sons of Hafiz Mammadov control the Bank of Azerbaijan, which is experiencing serious financial difficulties.
Ltd. Riyad-Farm, one of the leading companies in the field of pharmaceuticals, has also entered the "black list" of the Ministry of Taxes. This company belongs to Ilgar Aliyev, a cousin of the President of Azerbaijan. The company has 20 branches in the country and a wide network of pharmacies (40 pharmacies in Baku and regions of the country). Suffice it to say that, in force since 1998, the company employs more than 2.4 thousand people.
A branch of the Italian road construction company Impresa SPA does not timely pay taxes either.
In total, the list includes more than 450 companies and individuals, as well as branches and representative offices of several foreign companies. According to the Ministry of Taxes, public and state-budget businesses and organizations evade taxation, too. The amount of the debt was not disclosed, but according to the law, it is not considered a trade secret. -----08B
