TeliaSonera to Focus on Old World
Despite the increase in the subscriber base of the local mobile operator Azercell (at the end of 2014 4.3% - up to 4 million 567 thousand), the International ICT sector giant TeliaSonera (the major owner) is going to reduce the presence in the Azerbaijani market.
According to today's report, the company has created a new strategy, under which the activities will focus exclusively on Europe, in particular, Sweden, reducing to a minimum the presence in Eurasia (Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Moldova, Nepal and Tajikistan).
The holding does not explain the reasons, however, it informs on the beginning of a process which will take time, but it will be irreversible.
Recall, TeliaSonera owns 58% stake in Fintur Holdings B. V, through which it operates the leading local mobile operator Azercell. --17D-
