Total depth of exploration well on Asiman field defined
BP-Azerbaijan company has worked out and approved the plan of exploration of Shafag and Asiman offshore fields located in the deep-water section of the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.
According to the plan, the first exploration well will be drilled on Asiman offshore field. The depth of the first exploration well will be 7200 metres. The sea depth at the drilling site is going to be about 700 meters. The exploration works have never been carried out on such a depth in the Caspian Sea. High pressure and temperature is expected during the well drilling.
The production sharing agreement (PSA0 on the Shafag and Asiman perspective fields was signed between SOCAR (50%) and BP (50%) on October 7, 2010 for 30 years. The bloc is located 125 km south east of Baku.
The contract area occupies 1100 km and the exploration works have never been carried out here before.
Drilling of the first exploration well on Shafag-Asiman contract area will begin in quarter 4, 2016. Construction of the semi-submersible floating drilling rig for drilling works in difficult geological conditions will start in Baku at the end of 2013, which will be used specially for drilling on Shafag and Asiman fields.
The sea depth on the contract area is between 650 and 950 meters.-0--

Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN. As a result, monthly charges will be set at 25 AZN for 100 Mbit/s, 30 AZN for 150 Mbit/s, and 36 AZN for 250 Mbit/s.
