Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry responds to Moscow
Baku/30.11.18/Turan: Press-service of Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry rejected todays statement of the head of the press-service of Russia Maria Zakharova, who stated that the visit of the leader of the Karabakh separatists to Russia does not run counter the mediatory mission of Russia in the settlement the Karabakh conflict.
"Following the logic of the comment of Russia"s Foreign Ministry, Bako Saakyan went to have a rest on the Lake of Baykal, and not to Moscow where he had meetings as a head of the so-called illegal formation, created in Azerbaijan"s occupied territories as a result of the use of force and total ethnic cleansing. It is read that the visit
" does not contradict the Russian legoslatiohn, international agreements and mediatory mission of Russia in the settlement of the Nagorno -Karabakh settlement.
We would like to remind again that the Article 5 of the Agreement on Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Security between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation signed in 1997 notes clearly: "The parties undertake not to support the separatist movements, and also prohibit and curb the activities of individuals who are against the state sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the other Party", read the comments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
"There can be another question - if this is really a "private" visit of a person from the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Russian Federation (we would like to remind you that, in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions 822, 853, 874 and 884, the Russian Federation recognizes the Nagorno-Karabakh region as the territory of Azerbaijan), were the relevant requirements for crossing the state border of Russia applied, primarily regarding the presentation of a valid document issued in accordance with the legislation of the country of origin Azerbaijan ", noted in comments. -02D-
