CEC Approves Calendar Plan for Parliamentary Elections
Baku / 07.12.19 / Turan: On December 7, the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan approved a calendar plan of key actions in connection with the extraordinary parliamentary elections scheduled for February 9, 2020.
According to the schedule, the process of nominating candidates for deputies begins on the day of the official publication of the President’s order, that is, it already begun on December 6 (the President’s order was signed on December 5 and published in the official press on December 6).
For registration as a candidate for deputy, each applicant must collect at least 450 voter signatures in his district. The deadline for submitting registration documents is 30 days before the voting day. At the same time, registration documents must be considered within 5 days.
On January 17, the pre-election campaign stage begins, which ends the day before the election - at 8:00 on February 8.
In the evening of February 9, preliminary election results will be known, transmitted through the automated system "Elections"
District election commissions set the official election results at the latest within two days after the election.
The CEC within 20 days checks the results and submits them within 48 hours for approval by the Constitutional Court, which, in turn, announces the results within 10 days.
Elections to the 125-seat Milli Majlis are held according to the majority system. The territory of the country is divided into 125 single-member constituencies. — 06D-
