Musavat: Inayat Akhundov Victim of Aliyev Regime
The Musavat party issued a statement on the death of the grandfather of the young activist of NIDA Rashadat Akhundov, Inayat Akhundov.
He died the next day after he slashed his wrists in protest against the nomination of new criminal charges against his grandson, who faces the sentence of up to 12 years in prison.
"The 74-year-old elder , who spent 45 years of his life on the teaching profession, by committing suicide became a victim of the Aliyev regime," the statement said.
The party believes that this tragic event is an offense - incitement to suicide.
The statement by Musavat goes on to note that this tragedy was the result of persecution of free-thinking youth.
Musavat calls for the punishment of those responsible and expresses its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
* Rashadat Akhundov is one of the seven activists of NIDA arrested in March and April of this year on charges of illegal possession of explosives or drugs.

Now they face penalties of up to 12 years in prison. All of them are recognized by Amnesty International as "prisoners of conscience". - 16V06 -
