Musavat Threatened to Be Deprived of Headquarters
Baku / 15.12.17 / Turan: The State Property Committee filed a warning to the Musavat Party about the inadmissibility of providing the headquarters premises of the organization on sublease to other structures.
This followed one day after the appearance of information about the holding of the founding congress of the REAL party at the Musavat headquarters.
The representative of the State Property Committee on December 14 visited the Musavat party and presented an official warning letter on behalf of the Deputy Chairman of the department Rafig Jalilov.
The letter says that, according to the lease agreement, without the landlord"s permission, the tenant cannot give the premises for use in the second hand (sublease) or use it for any other purposes, said the head of the party"s apparatus, Gulaga Aslanli.
And if Musavat does such an act, then the lease agreement will be terminated.
However, Aslanli noted, according to the law "On political parties," the state is obliged to create conditions for the activities of parties.
Aslanli noted that the regional party structures in Sumgait, Sheki, Gandja, Shirvan, Lankaran and other regions were illegally deprived of their offices.
Aslanli said the party pays for rent in time. The bearer of the letter himself admitted that Musavat was an exemplary payer. So there is no reason to terminate the contract, Aslanli said.
On the other hand, he said, the provision of the headquarters hall for holding the REAL Congress is not a sublease.
Aslanli recalled that the Musavat headquarters hosted similar meetings of the Public Chamber, the National Council of Democratic Forces, the People's Front Party, and the NIDA movement in different years.
This headquarters is one of very few places that all the opposition forces can use.
"If the authorities take our headquarters away from us, this will mean the decision of the headquarters of the entire opposition," Aslanli said.
He noted that in the run-up to the presidential elections of 2018, the government resorted to everything to weaken the able-bodied rivalry by Musavat and the opposition as a whole.
"On the eve of the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, the eviction of Musavat, which is the legacy of one of the founders of the ADR, Mammad Emin Rasulzadeh, will not do honor to the authorities," Aslanli said. -03B06-
