A refugee from Lachin complains of doctors

Vahid Jafarov, a displaced migrant from the Lachin region, an invalid of the first group, residing in Imishli region, has sent an open letter to President Ilham Aliyev.

Copies of the letter were also sent to the President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mehriban Aliyeva, the Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov, Minister of Health, Ogtay Shiraliyev, and the Ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova.

Jafarov wrote that on July 15, 2012, he got in an accident, committed the fault of the female driver. As a result, Jafarov lost one kidney, and the other kidney has lost its function, and is now supported by dialysis.

According to him, the doctor Anar, from the Fizuli regional hospital, offered to organize at 6,000 manats a kidney transplant in the Baku Oil Workers Hospital within the frameworks of the charity action of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Jafarov said that he is officially transferred to the hospital 3,000 manat.

However, the promised charitable action  when seven patients were to be operated did not take place, but neither the hospital, nor the doctor return Jafarov’s money.

Jafarov requests assistance in the return of his money and assistance in treatment.

As for the investigation of an accident, it is conducted in the Imishli  regional police.

"First, the investigator wanted to put the blame on me, but after my complaints to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a new investigation began, and the case was transferred to another investigator. I  have been  recognized as a victim. The woman who committed an accident on the road and her relatives had never been interested in my health," said Jafarov.

In the coming days, he is going to hold a press conference in Baku  and give details of  his  troubles.

In turn, the Hospital of Oil Workers commenting  on the complaint  of Jafarov, excluded the possibility of obtaining a patient's money and not providing services.

Thus, the first deputy director of the Hospital,  Habib Yuzbashev told Turan, that  not any  charitable action  on  kidney transplant was declared recently, and at least until the end of the year  such operations are not provided.

In addition, prior to the surgery, the patient and the donor must undergo examination and blood samples  should be  sent for analysis to Turkey,  because  such research in not possible  in Azerbaijan.

Such  services are very expensive, up to several thousand manat. The very same surgery costs 12,000 manat, Yuzbashev said.—06D-
