No Investigative Activities Conducted in Relation of Mirkadyrov
The lawyer Elmar Suleymanov visited the journalist Rauf Mirkadyrov in the DHS jail yesterday.
According to the lawyer, there are no changes in the Mirkadyrov case, and no investigative action is carried out, he told Turan.
We note that November 21 is a deadline for Mirkadyrov’s arrest. On the question whether there is a basis for the extension of his detention, the lawyer replied: "Most likely, the term of arrest will be extended, although there is no reason to do that. Moreover, there are no grounds for the criminal case."
The observer of the newspaper Zerkalo, Mirkadyrov was arrested in Turkey and deported to Baku on 19 April this year. In Baku, he was accused of spying for the Armenians.
On April 21 the court arrested him for 3 months, and on July 15 the arrest term was extended for another 4 months. The journalist denies the allegations, considering them as absurd and politically motivated.
The human rights activists, Leyla and Arif Yunus, are also in this case as defendants. -16 / 06D-
