The importance of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railroad, the reasons for the high cost of goods, and a look at the alleged changes in the law on political parties are the leading topics of today"s press.
The newspaper Azerbaijan writes about the significance of the global project of the BTK railway. The author calls the project a historical one, comparing it in significance with the Suez Canal. The railway will transport 1 million passengers and 6.5 million tons of cargo annually.
The newspaper Echo published an article entitled Export of Azerbaijani Food Products Leads to Increase in Prices? Most of the food products produced in Azerbaijan is exported. The rapid growth of exports of domestic goods must be restrained; otherwise it will be impossible to stop the constant rise in prices.
If you leave everything as it is, then the volume of domestic food products in the domestic market will decrease, and the share of imports will increase even more. In January-September of 2017, Azerbaijan carried out export-import operations with 187 countries for a total of more than $ 14 billion, which is 12.4% higher than in the same period in 2016. For 9 months of the current year the country imported goods of 7,164 names for more than 6 billion dollars, which is 0.38% lower than in 2016.
The Novoye Vremya newspaper published an article about the expected changes to the law On Political Parties. The changes are related to increasing transparency in political parties, that is, transparency of their financial sources and costs, as a number of political parties provide empty reports, and some parties do not report at all, and some others give incorrect reports. As part of the struggle against illegal migration in Baku city, operative actions were carried out at different addresses. The Interior Ministry reports that employees of the Department for Combating Illegal Migration identified and detained 34 foreigners without documents giving the right to reside and stay on the territory of Azerbaijan.
