Rasul Hasan released(UPDATED)
Baku / 18.02.20 / Turan: On the evening on February 18, graphic designer Rasul Hasan was released, said his father Elshan Hasanov.
According to him, R.Hasan was detained on Tuesday morning when he got out of a taxi.
“When Rasul got out of the taxi, they approached him and demanded to follow them. In the police department, he was asked about opposition views, and was asked about the family members. They forced to remove the video that he had prepared. In addition, Rasul was threatened that if his detention were made public, then “more stringent measures” would be taken against him. This is a kidnapping and violation of all human rights,” E. Hasanov said.
He intends to inform the embassy of the Western states about this on February 19.
“Let them know about it. This is not the first pressure on our family.
A few more years ago during the presidential election, an even more terrifying event was launched against another member of our family, and then I stopped collecting signatures (in favor of the opposition candidate). Rasul was also summoned to the police because his hone was “lit up” in the rally area. Then they summoned him, but now they have abducted him from the street,” E. Hasanov said.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs could not be reached for comment.-0-

Historian Jamil Hasanli's recent Facebook post has reignited debates over Azerbaijan's pension system and labor market, exposing significant shortcomings in social welfare and employment policies. The sharp critique followed Minister of Labor and Social Protection Sahil Babayev's parliamentary statement that individuals who have never worked or contributed to social insurance should not be eligible for pensions. The statement has drawn attention to entrenched structural issues in Azerbaijan's labor and pension frameworks, where employment gaps and limited social safety nets exacerbate inequality.
