Residents of Demolished Houses Block Baku-Sumgait Road
Residents of private homes in the area of the bus station in the morning on Friday staged a protest, blocking traffic on the road Baku-Sumgait. As a result, there was a huge traffic jam. The residents protest against the amount of compensation which they are offered for demolition of their housing - 500 AZN per square meter.
As Turan reported from the scene, after the police and a representative of the executive branch of the Binagadi district arrived, the residents opened the way and started negotiations on the amount of compensation.
In turn, the Baku Subway press service told Turan a depot is built in this area and, in this context, 66 houses are to be demolished.
“In the place where the depot will be built, there will be also a tunnel, and all the houses above the tunnel are to be demolished. This decision was made by the relevant authorities,” he said.
Note that the houses in this area do not have a building permit and have not been privatized. -03B-
