Two activists of NIDA, Bayram Mammadov and Giyaseddin Ibrahim were detained yesterday evening. Nothing is reported about the place of detention. NIDA Movement believes that young people were detained in connection with the scandalous inscriptions on the pedestal of the monument to Heydar Aliyev in front of the Central Bank yesterday.
On Facebook appeared a photo of the monument, on the pedestal of which was written with white paint in Azerbaijani and English: Qul Bayramınız Mübarək! (Happy Flower Days!) On the front side of the pedestal was written - Fuck the system! (Down with the system!). By morning the inscription disappeared. The police still has not commented on the incident and the detention of youth activistst.-06D-
