Kiev on negotiations and real security guarantees - Ambassador Kanevsky

Baku/25.02.22/Turan: Ukraine initially advocated the settlement of the conflict through political and diplomatic means, but the main thing for it is what security guarantees will be given to it,  stated the Ambassador of Ukraine to Azerbaijan Vladislav Kanevsky on Friday, commenting on President Volodymyr Zelensky's statement about readiness for negotiations on the country's neutral status.

“We, Ukraine, from the very beginning proceeded from the fact that we solve any conflicts through political and diplomatic means. This is the policy now. For us, the main issue is guaranteeing our safety. We remember 1994, we remember the guarantees of countries that failed to ensure the security of Ukraine from Russian aggression. Therefore, we are ready to sit down at the negotiating table to look for real guarantees. This was also said by our president,” Kanevsky said, answering a question from Turan.

Russia has already crossed the “red lines” and “in this situation, strong sanctions from the West and military support of Ukraine are required, we ourselves will fight for our country,” the ambassador said.—06/16B-
