Who called a teenager mentally ill for his criticizing conditions in an orphanage?
Baku/06.04.23/Turan: The scandal that broke out in connection with the complaint of the pupil of the orphanage No. 3, 17-year-old Muhammad Hajiyev, about the conditions of detention, does not subside. The teenager was placed in a psychiatric hospital after a video spread on social networks in which he talks about the corrupt acts of the leadership of the orphanage. The head doctor of the hospital said that the child was mentally healthy and was discharged a day later.
The director of the orphanage No. 3, Mahbuba Huseynova, denied all charges. Who are they who called a teenager mentally ill for criticizing the conditions of detention in an orphanage? How could it happen that the head doctor of a psychiatric hospital, who said that the teenager was mentally healthy, was fired a day later? Why do not the state bodies show an adequate response to what is happening?
The chairman of the public association "Temiz Dunya" ("Clean World") Mehriban Zeynalova answered these other questions in the "Difficult question" program.
According to her, the child was placed in a psychiatric hospital in order to punish and intimidate him.
"I believe that in such cases, when children make such criticism, it is necessary to create an independent crisis group consisting of people with authority in society. And this crisis group should immediately, without asking anyone's permission, meet with the criticizing child, as well as with other children from the orphanage, assess the situation and report this assessment to the public. But unfortunately, this did not happen and unfortunately, we do not have a crisis group dealing with children's problems," Zeynalova said.
In her opinion, Muhammad Hajiyev may have psychological injuries.
"He was abandoned… Someone refused this child all the time. It is possible that the injuries inflicted on him affect his behavior, but it is impossible to consider him mentally ill. He states his thoughts clearly. Perhaps not everything in his behavior is pleasant, but this is the result of the trauma he suffered. In addition, the desire to attract attention to themselves, the desire for leadership, to show their exclusivity, is not uncommon in the transition period among teenagers. But instead of looking for an approach to a difficult child who "cuts the truth of the uterus", the director of the orphanage applies to him the method of punishment favored by the "scoop" – sends the child to the "durka", the social activist is outraged.
"If a child is really difficult, then there should be specialized educational institutions for such children and he should have been sent there, but not to a psychiatric hospital," Zeynalova is convinced.
In her opinion, "without the creation of a crisis group, the participation of independent experts, representatives of civil society, the media, psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers, it is impossible to resolve such situations." The lack of a comprehensive solution to problems only leads the case to a dead end, she believes. -0-
