Export of Fruits and Vegetables Exceeds Export of Petroleum Products
Baku / 15.09.17 / Turan: For the first eight months of this year, Azerbaijan exported 310,500 tons of fruits and vegetables, 63.5% more than in the comparable period of 2016, the State Customs Committee (SCC) reported.
The volume of exports in value terms exceeded the indicator for the same period of last year by 42.7%. At the same time, the SCC data show that the volume of exports of vegetables and fruits ($ 269.5 million) is $ 44.6 million ahead of the export of petroleum products. This year Azerbaijan shipped 583,600 tons of oil products out of the country, 41% less than last year.
The share of fruits and vegetables in the structure of non-oil exports is 28%.
The growth of exports also affects the prices of vegetables and fruits in the country. According to the State Statistics Committee, since the beginning of the year prices have increased by several percent. ----08D

At today’s session of the Milli Majlis, Azerbaijan’s parliamentarians discussed and approved in the first reading a draft law increasing the minimum subsistence level for 2025. The updated figures reflect a modest rise of 10 manats, setting the nationwide living wage at 285 manats. For specific demographics, the levels are 305 manats for the working population, 232 manats for pensioners, and 246 manats for children. The same session also approved the criterion of need at 285 manats for the coming year, aligning it with the national living wage.
