According to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan, on the export of skins customs duties are introduced for a period of 5 years.
Changes to the previous version of the document "About rates of custom duties on export-import transactions", which will take effect from November 7 provide for a fee of $ 150 to $ 500 per ton of raw, fresh and salted hides of both large and small ruminants.
According to the State Customs Committee, in January-August, the country exported skins worth $ 357,040. Unfortunately, the Committee did not provide information on pricing, but directly in the places of slaughter 1 kg lamb and calf skins are worth 10 kopecks. Daily only in Baku 500 tons of meat (beef and lamb equally) is sold, and 70 tons of skins are sold for treatment. On Novruz, Ramadan and Gurban holidays much more is sold. Note that 80% of skins are sold cheaply for export, mainly to Turkey, Afghanistan and Pakistan. --17D-
