The number of economically active population in Azerbaijan reached 4.8 million people
At yesterday's meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on the results of socioeconomic development in the first half of 2014, the Minister of Labor and Social Welfare Salim Muslimov spoke.
According to him, from July 2013 to July 2014 the number of economically active population in Azerbaijan increased by 1.5%, amounting to 4.794 million people, the vast majority of which (4,556 million or 1.7% per year) employed in various sectors . In the energy sector, mining, construction, agriculture, transport, tourism and services represented 200 employers of more than 5000 developed professional standards.
If in 2003 the proportion of able-bodied people aged 15-64 was 66.7%, by far the rod has risen to 71.8%. Only through the Ministry of Labor in the first half of employed 13,742 people recorded in the 1782 training courses and further education, 57 327 citizens raised their qualifications.
On July 1, 2014 there was prepared and entered in the register of electronic services a new form of on-line contracts between employers and employees - the minister said. According to him, the labor inspection began to work better - in the first half of the year it revealed 9,269 violations of labor laws, employers were fined at 2.352 million manat (23 times more than the same period last year), and the inspectors secured 5,613 individual employment contracts.
The minister said that from January to July, targeted social assistance received 560,000 people in 128,000 households that 2300 people less in comparison with the indicators on July 1 last year, which affected the average amount of aid - 133 manat or 10.5 % family. Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN. As a result, monthly charges will be set at 25 AZN for 100 Mbit/s, 30 AZN for 150 Mbit/s, and 36 AZN for 250 Mbit/s.
