What Newspapers Do Border Guards Read?
Baku / 04.02.20 / Turan: The State Border Service (SBS) announced a tender for subscription periodicals for April-December this year. The Səs newspaper, the actual mouthpiece of the party in power (New Azerbaijan), is inferior to the state-owned newspaper Azərbaycan by several copies a day at the request of the SBS for periodicals.
According to the tender announcement, the SBS requires 11 newspapers per month, including Səs – 6,600 copies, Olaylar - 220 copies, Yeni Azərbaycan - 240 copies, Şərq - 22 copies, Yeni Musavat - 26 copies, Mövqe - 720 copies, Xalq Qəzeti – 1,950 copies, Azərbaycan – 7,800 copies, Respublika – 3,900 copies, Azərbaycan Veteranı - 20 copies, and Hərbi And - 160 copies.
The SBS, for example, subscribes to 6.5% of the daily circulation of the newspaper Səs.
In December 2019, Səma Mətbuat Yayımı, with a proposal of 90.7 thousand manat ($ 53.3 thousand), won the tender for subscription to the periodicals for 2020. However, according to the representative of the Tender Commission, Rustam Imamaliyev, the contract between the parties was not signed. The need for periodicals is determined by the SBS leadership, taking into account the requirements of the border outposts.
Subscription to periodicals is issued by many state and government agencies.
Retail newspapers are currently in decline. A substantial amount is allocated annually from the state budget for the maintenance of several newspapers, the list of which is determined by the Council of State Support for Media. -----08B--
