Turkey to Conduct Early Parliamentary Elections
Turkey will conduct early parliamentary elections on November 1. This decision was taken after efforts to form a coalition government failed because of the refusal of the opposition to cooperate with the ruling party of President Erdogan.
Recall that after the elections, Justice and Development Party won 258 seats of the 550 and for the first time in 13 years lost the right to the sole formation of the government.
The left-centrist People’s Republican Party won 132 places, the Nationalist Action Party won 80 and the pro-Kurdish People’s Democracy Party won 80, too.
The minority parties abandoned the coalition with the party of Erdogan because of his desire to change the constitution and to make Turkey a presidential republic.
Erdogan has persistently tried to prove that the system of governance in the country has de facto changed, whether his opponents want this or not.
Experts believe that at the early elections Erdogan's party will lose more votes, while the opposition, on the contrary, will gain more.
It should be noted that on 1 November new parliamentary elections will be also held in Azerbaijan. -05D-
