Another European leader urges to award the Sakharov Prize to Leyla Yunus
Alexander Sjödin ,European Advocacy Officer Human Rights House Foundation (HRHF) called on the European Parliament to award Sakharov Prize for 2014 Leyla Yunus.
In his appeal he emphasized the role of human rights activist from Azerbaijan in the protection of freedoms of the citizens of his country, her firmness and fearlessness. In particular, he noted how she fights even behind bars, where Leila and her husband Arif are on false charges.
"Awarding Leyla Yunus means support for all 98 political prisoners in Azerbaijan," reads the appeal. Until now, several international organizations and activists called on to award the Sakharov Prize to Leyla Yunus. The decision in this regard will be made on October 21 by the selection of the three candidates.-02D-
