Armenian defense and foreign ministers inspect border with Nakhchivan
Yerevan / 18.05.18 / Turan: On Friday, Armenian Defense Minister, David Tonoyan, and Foreign Minister, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, visited the south-western border of Armenia, in the direction of Nakhchivan (Sadarak), said Artsrun Hovhannisyan, spokesman for the Defense Ministry.
"Having familiarized on the spot with the operational situation, the ministers discussed the peculiarities of the border service with the command of the military unit. Tonoyan instructed the command to be always vigilant, not to succumb to provocations and to stop any attempts of the enemy," Hovhannisyan wrote.
The concern of the Armenian side is due to the recent visit of Nakhchivan by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and his statements about the readiness of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces to strike at any point in Armenia and Nakhchivan.
The biggest threat comes from Yerevan, which is only 70 km from the border with Nakhchivan.
Apparently, the Armenian side considers these threats real and is preparing for possible troubles. -02D-
