Law enforcement agencies claim that the brother of journalist is arrested lawfully
The Interior Ministry and Prosecutor General Office issued a statement on the Ismayilli events. It refuted information that Elshan Ismayilli, the brother of the correspondent of "Azadlig" newspaper, Elchin Ismayilli, was arrested for his professional activities.
It is alleged that Elshan Ismayilli actively participated in the riots on January 23-24 in Ismayilli.
"Elshan Ismayilli ignored the legitimate demands of the authorities, who tried to dissuade people from illegal actions, but rather he voiced prohibited calls, threw stones at police, inciting people to oppose," reads the press release.
Nasimi Court arrested Elshan Ismayilli for two months, for the period of investigation on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting the authorities. The Interior Ministry and the Prosecutor's Office allege that he pleaded guilty to the charges against him. The Prosecutor Office posted on its website a video showing the illegal actions of the prisoner. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLvJqOmjGS0-16D04- -16D04-
