System Created by Mehdiyev Turns into Boomerang against Him - Bakhtiyar Hajiyev

Baku / 22.08.20 / Turan: If the restrictions of the quarantine regime are strictly applied against ordinary citizens, then the violation of the law by former high-ranking officials, parliament members who themselves adopt these legal acts, of course, are not unambiguously perceived in society. Therefore, all violators of the rules, including participants in a resonant wedding, should be severely punished. This opinion was expressed to Turan by public activist Bakhtiyar Hajiyev, commenting on the arrest of the son-in-law of the former head of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev, Ilham Aliyev, and his matchmaker Rovshan Mustafayev in connection with the wedding of their children.

At the same time, Hajiyev also saw in the arrest of these persons "a manifestation of inter-clan struggle."

“Photos and videos from weddings, engagements and children of other officials were disseminated on social networks. However, no action was taken against them. At the same time, reports from the courtroom by pro-government TV channels, showing of persons accused of an administrative offense in handcuffs and other moments give reason to believe that the arrest of these persons was not a punishment for their offense, but the reprisal of one clan over another," Hajiyev said. ...

The activist noted that he does not know courts and judges in Azerbaijan who make decisions independently.

“Today's decision also came from the presidential administration. Simultaneously, the pro-government media received a command to open a live broadcast from the court. And the police were instructed to handcuff those who appeared before the court. And yesterday the deputies, who were silent in connection with this wedding, today, one after the other, began to make statements that "everyone is equal before the law." As if they want to convince the society that the law is equally applied against all those who violated it. The society clearly understands that this is just an episode of an inter-clan struggle,” Hajiyev said.

In his opinion, Ramiz Mehdiyev must draw conclusions for himself.

“During his long work in the high office, there were hundreds of such ordered trials, people with an independent position were handcuffed, and the pro-government media denigrated hundreds of such victims. Now Ramiz Mehdiyev is receiving blows from the system, the creator of which he himself also was.

Other officials must understand that where there is no fair trial, one day they themselves will fall under the millstones of this system,” Hajiyev said.

If the recommendations of the World Health Organization on this disease are taken into account at the level of the country's leadership, then every family, everyone, regardless of their name, position, or fame, must comply with the requirements of the law, in turn, said the deputy Sabir Rustamkhanli, commenting on the organization of the wedding of the daughter of the son-in-law of the President of ANAS, Ramiz Mehdiyev, former deputy Ilham Aliyev, on August 18 during the quarantine period.

He added that there are thousands of families in Azerbaijan who have postponed their weddings and are waiting for a favorable situation in the country. “This is why everyone must obey the law. If someone is strong or someone has opportunities, and they come forward and ignore something, I do not consider it normal,” the parliamentarian said.

Commenting on the 15-day arrest of Mehdiyev's son-in-law and his matchmaker, Rustamkhanli said that “all those who are currently committing such actions should be ready for this”. "If they dared to take this step in this difficult situation, then the punishment should have been inevitable ... This punishment is also a message to all other citizens that no matter who whose relatives or friends they are, there will be no leniency to anyone," the parliamentarian said . — 21C-
